How time flys

It has been nearly a year since I have blogged or posted anything to the "corner". In a sense, I must have put the task in the corner, or on the back-burner at least. The time has went by so quickly and in such a fleeting fashion that it is remarkable just "how long" it has been. I have missed it. It is time to recharge - regain momentum!

This subject of Time; what a mystery.

Our congregation and our community at large just laid to rest a dear saint of over eighty years of age. We saw her departure, her "promotion" as it were, at hand long before it happened. In the moments of caring and comfort for the family in the death of their loved one, and in preparation for the memorial and funeral service, I could not help but recall and reflect on this concept of how time flys.

The time that this dear lady spent on earth was not in vain. Although time indeed flys, she used much of it to bear witness to Christ; to her family, friends, and community. This was validated in a powerful way by God-honoring remarks made by those who knew her. People who attended her services were purposefully reminded that time, on this earth at least, is indeed fleeting, and that we can not wait to decide for Christ in our later years, foolishly thinking that somehow we will have that opportunity later in the nick of time. Remarkable, is it not, that eternity, the longest span of time,  is defined by a decision that we will or will not make in a moment of time? We dare not continue missing the opportunities to decide for Christ; to submit our lives to him, serve Him, and love Him.

At the conclusion of a sermon message this past Sunday, it was our joy to receive a young man into the Body of Christ, as he had made his decision for Christ, not wasting any more time. Taking the time himself, his remarks to me after the service were these: "For some reason today, the words of the message made sense to me this time."

Behold, now is the acceptable time; behold, now is the day of salvation! (II Corinthians 6:2b)
Time is simply too short to waste, even if we do have those eighty or more years.

Much love,
Pastor Bob

Pastor Bob what a great message you posted. Indeed TIME is a mystery we never shall wrap our minds around. Indeed I felt when I retired from 37 years in a transportation industry. An industry took up most all my TIME. But I assured myself - Rick old boy, when you retire you will have TIME to share your faith - your testimony - Rick you will have TIME to get down to where the rubber meets the road.

Well it might sound strange we chose to relocate to an area where Craig and Klawock are like New York City and LA believe it or not. This time of the year it is three hours if the roads are bad to get to church or the store, if we can get out at all. Several times a year our little community is usually cut off from travel. So what do we do with our TIME? How do we share the Lord - How do you make yourself available to a hand full of people? Most all that have made it very clear that really they do not want to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ in any way shape or form. Yet knowing full well when we moved up here according to
(2Tim 2:15 [KJV]):
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

How do you share the love of Jesus Christ? So how do you use your TIME? How do you reach people? I have found not surprisingly as if some great Biblical King James Mystery is in the middle of it all. But use what you are good at and expand around it. If you can write - write. If you take photos - take photos. GOD will use you and them. Be ready to reach out and share. You do not need to be on the streets of Seattle - Portland or LA. Most all of us have the internet in some form or the other. You do not need to be Billy Graham - or Charles Spurgeon nor the Westlies and Whitefield. You do have to be able to give some TIME to others. Quoting Roman Roads can help.... But giving a little TIME to tell someone - I once was lost but now I am found. I found a friend who has my back through it all. You know the crazy thing about it. I never seen Him, never have I gave Him a Holy Handshake or a hug - but He has filled me with FAITH, HOPE and LOVE and the greatest is LOVE. How would you like to meet my friend - BTW He loves you enough before you were ever born He died for you. So that you might have eternal life with Him in a very special place he built for you and I. And you know he has a very special plan for your life. He just askes that you give him a little of your TIME.

Blessings
Rick Russell

Thanks for taking the TIME (opportunity) to comment, brother Rick. I am confident, that in due TIME (season), you will reap something good if you do not lose heart. [Galatians 6:9-10]
